Description:
Sawpalmeto oil is acquired from small, scrubby palm tree, scientifically known as Sabal serulata or Serenoa repens belonging to Palmaceae family (Arecaceae). It grows up to 6 to 10 feet with large spiny toothed leaves on tree. Saw palmetto is native to Southeast area of the United States and the coastal plains of Florida and Texas. It widely spread throughout South Carolina and Louisiana.
Extraction:
Sawpalmetto oil is obtained from berries of Sabal serulata herb through supercritical CO2 extraction method.
Composition:
Sawpalmeto berries contain about 1.5% of a fruity smelling oil include saturated and unsaturated sterols and fatty acids.Free fatty acids (capric, caprylic, caproic, lauric, palmitic, and oleic acids) comprise about 63 % of this oil. The remaining oil is made up of ethyl esters of the above listed fatty acid and sterol, particularly beta-sitosterol and its glucoside.

It mixes well with rosemary, grapefruit, seabuckthorn, turmeric, sage, frankincense, and peppermint oil.

Assay Minimum 85% total fatty acids, mainly Oleic acid (C18:1), Lauric acid (C12:0) and Myristic acid (C14:0). The supplement should be a fat soluble saw palmetto extract that contains 85 to 95% fatty acids and sterols. Liquid extract: This preparation has not been tested in any studies, so its effectiveness is not known. Tea: Saw palmetto can be taken as a tea. But its active ingredients (fatty acids) are not soluble in water.
